Fan Experiences - The Fillmore, Denver
You're never too old to rock-n-roll....
It 's been almost 30 years to the day since I saw my first live concert,
Jethro Tull at Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium during their Thick as A Brick tour. So when I saw that I had another opportunity to revisit that
experience, I jumped at it.
The Fillmore is a GA venue, with about 100 bar tables with chairs. Those
that get into the door 5 minutes after opening are stuck on floor with 4800
of their closest friends. I got there at 1 PM to get my table of choice.
The show: Almost a carbon copy of the DVD show, including the dialogue and
bunny entrance. I know and understand that the boys find comfort and security in not varying the
set list, but at least one surprise would have been nice. I guess there was one surprise; they didn't do Sweet Dream.
From my vantage point, the PA was too loud. I've been to this venue
multiple times, and this is the first show that the volume slapped me in the face. My ears are still ringing.
If you watch the DVD, you'll get a good representation of what the show was
like. Incredible musicianship, Ian's voice showing 35 years of road wear,
and an unforgettable experience. Still one of the best live acts touring.
