Here you will find a 1 minute clip from each of 10
selected Tull albums on this page, as well as some notes on the album or
song which you may find helpful or interesting (or maybe both!). As most CD
selling websites contain only short, mediocre song samples, these good
quality mp3 audio clips should help you in further making a buying
decision.
In the far left column I have researched major online
vendors and found the best places for you to purchase an album. Albums
that are currently out of print are listed as "special order"
from any reputable vendor where I could find them (Tower Records seems to
track most of them), and they will send it as soon as it becomes available.
So feel free to download any of these mp3's, and
support your favorite artists such as Jethro Tull by purchasing their
albums...

A Little Light Music (Live)
|
1992
|
Special
Order
Tower Records
|
|
Album Notes:
A Little Light Music was recorded while on tour in
Europe. On this particular tour, Tull was comprised of only 4
members: Ian Anderson with the usual regime of instruments
including harmonica, Martin Barre on guitar, Dave Pegg rounding
out the bass sound, and Dave Mattiks on percussion and keyboard
instruments (most notably the glockenspiel). Tull also plays a
nice version of John Barleycorn... something which many fans might
not have had the chance to hear from them.

Wond'ring
Aloud
|
Aqualung
|
1973
|
Available
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
O.K., So everyone knows the classic
"Aqualung", but how long has it been since you have
heard one of the acoustic classics. Wond'ring Aloud is just that,
a classic that was much understated in the wake of the heavy
handed Aqualung and Locomotive Breath. Give it another listen, and
remember the other side of this great album.

Pussy
Willow
|
Broadsword and the Beast
|
1982
|
Available
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
As the era of synthesizers came and went, it was
inevitable that Tull may experiment in this new arena, and so
Broadsword and the Beast came along. Despite what some consider to
be a downfall in Tull's music, this album contains many pieces of
music which hold up quite well against the test of time, Pussy
Willow is one of those classics.

Bends Like A Willow (Single)
|
1999
|
Limited
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
Tull's limited edition single that came along with
J-Tull Dot Com, this CD was only released in Europe through the
newly formed "Papallion Records". It contains two radio
edits of "Bends Like A Willow" and "Dot Com",
as well as the previously unreleased "It All Trickles
Down". The CD will still be available for a short time as an
import at Amazon.com

She

|
Crest of a Knave
|
1987
|
To
be re-released 9/12/2000
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
No one gave much notice to this Jethro Tull album
that won the first ever Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Grammy, in fact,
Tull was considered such a long shot, that they were not even
invited to the Grammy Awards Ceremony. Well, at any rate,
"She Said She Was A Dancer" is not from the "hard
rocking" part of the album ( wherever that may have been).

One
Brown Mouse
|
Heavy horses
|
1978
|
Available
Tower Records
|
|
Album Notes:
Oh, yes, the coveted Heavy Horses album. The title
track of which has become a concert favorite. Yet there are other
hidden gems here, and One Brown Mouse is definitely one of those
gems worth taking a listen too.

Jethro Tull in Concert
|
1995
|
Available
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
Another live album, this one included the full and
more familiar five person concert lineup. Accordingly, this album
contains more traditional arrangements common in concert settings.
This is the strongest live album I have heard from Tull in the
past few decades, a must buy if you are into live stuff.

|
Living in the Past
|
1972
|
Available
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
Although the CD version of "Living in The
Past" released by Chrysalis Records cuts out some of the
material from the original double LP, this is still a strong CD
with many highs to speak of. You seem to fall in love with this
one all over again with each and every listen. To the credit of
the record company, there is a double CD version of this album
availible with all the fixings and more, but you might have to
look around for it. If you want to know where to find it,
as availability changes too often for me to put a link here.
The above link is for the single CD.

Broadford
Bazaar
|
Nightcap
|
1993
|
Available
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
In 1973, the band recorded material in a location
near Paris, known as Chateau D'Herouville which was was never
published until this CD set came out. This double CD set includes
not only the Chateau tapes, but also a second CD full of rare and
unreleased tracks which were not included on past albums,
subsequently, these tracks span almost two decades of work. The
clip "Broadford Bazaar" (originally recorded in 1978) is
from the "Rare and Unreleased" portion of the set.

Another
Christmas Song
|
Rock Island
|
1989
|
Available
Amazon.com
|
|
Album Notes:
Sequels are not traditionally all that great, I
mean take the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for instance, but Ian
Anderson is not a crime fighting turtle, and he sure did something
right here. Another Christmas Song seems to strike a chord with
many people. This whole album has a very unique, far away feeling
to it, and this song seems to bring the whole thing together.
