Molly Bloom,
Folk Rocking in the Steps of Tull
Tullworld: First up, your music has been described as a cross between Jethro Tull and
Vampiresque movie music. Is it something of a desired niche, or did it just happen that
way?
Molly Bloom: There is obviously is a similarity with the instruments used in Molly
Bloom..(Flute, Classical Guitar, Mandolins, Keyboards/Accordion, Bass and
Drums)However we never set out to sound the same, but when there is a flute
in a band then people will draw comparisons! We are all big fans of Tull and are influenced by them, but also all other
styles as well! As for the sinister side of the music....all our songs do start off as love
songs (honest).
TW: How do you go about writing songs, is it an individual or complete group
effort, or maybe somewhere in between?
MB: We are all heavily involved in the writing of the music, sometimes the music
comes from one and the words from another /or the other way round. Bouncing ideas off each other, until the Molly Bloom sound appears!
TW:
Is music something you would all like to pursue as a lifetime career, touring and recording?
MB: Music is a part of everyday life; we all have other jobs, but being paid for
something you enjoy doing is always a bonus. And a " Molly Bloom World Tour" sounds
ok!
TW: Will we be seeing you on a Jethro Tull billing anytime soon?
MB: We should be so lucky .........(lucky, lucky, lucky)
TW: What are your near-future plans for recording/playing and where can Tull
fans in the area see you play?
MB: We are currently in the middle of writing the second
CD. As of yet we have not giged any of the new stuff, but when we do we will
inform everyone at Tull World.
Molly Bloom is based out of
Bury, England. Anyone interested in getting a copy of their album or
attending a show can contact stephen.dundon@bt.com

Jethro
Tull, From a Drummers View
Recently, Mike Prager, of Streamworks Audio interviewed Doane Perry, Tull's drummer of 18 years. Find out what got him started, why he auditioned for Tull in the first place and the quirky hardships of living in the U.S. while the rest of the band is in the U.K. Also, discover a bit of behind the scenes observations regarding the bands recording techniques. A really intriguing read that all Tull fans should definitely check out.
